Goodbye Miss Chin!
When you read the title, some of you would be asking loudly in your head “Where is she going!”, “Who’s going to take over tutorials!” or something along that line. If you had been gossiping around enough, you would have known that our dear Miss Chin is going abroad to study! Where? Why? For how long will she be away? Similar to Mr. Terence, Miss Chin will be going to University of Southern California to further her studies and learn new knowledge that will be applicable to our course of study here in Temasek Polytechnic. As you know, Mr. Terence and Miss Julie are eagerly recruiting new family members so as to enhance the students’ (which refers to us!) learning in school. At the same time, the school is also sending lecturers overseas to upgrade themselves so that what we study will be similar with those abroad. The next question you will be asking would be, how long will Miss Chin be away then? She will be leaving Singapore just before the countdown of the New Year and will be back in 6 months’ time! It may sound like a long period but remember time files and in no time we will be bumping into her in school again! As Miss Chin’s care group, my class, 2B02, surprised her last Tuesday with the help of our lecturer conspirators, Mr. Kevin and Mr. Sim. They managed to fool her into thinking that some of my classmates were going to do presentation for their external project. As a class we bought her an external harddisk which would be useful for her when she is in LA taking all the nice photographs of Hollywood stars (statues to be exact) or many just some scenic photos of her travelling around the country. So the surprise went on like this, we prepared pizzas and drinks and most of our classmates gathered earlier to write little notes wishing her Bon Voyage and have a safe trip. When it was about time that she came to the LT to listen to the “presentation”, the rest who were not involved in the project hid outside the LT. We waited for the others’ cue to go back in and surprise Miss Chin! When all of us appeared in the LT, Miss Chin was so shocked that she cried. We presented a short PPT and our class Chairwoman passed her the present we bought. It was such a heartwarming scene. Miss Chin was so touched and I bet she never thought that we prepared all these for her. We took photos with her, ate pizza and drank soda. It was a really fun day and by the time I post this, I believe she would be on the flight to LA. Now let’s hope for the best of her studies, good grades, and awesome teachers and bring back some goodies for us from LA! Take care Miss Chin and have a safe trip! P.S: Wait for our email attached with the list of things we want! (Taking some photos while waiting for the surprise party to start!) (SMILE!) So what are we up to this November....? :)
Hi all! On 19th November, it was the 'Global Entrepreneurship Week' and it was held at Temasek Polytechnic's Auditorium 2.The FAIR which focuses on business ideas of young minds in their attempt to resolve issues of the ageing population For the SEMINAR, we have invited industry experts to share with you the “emergence of the elderly market”; and in relation, product ideas for this growing market. Another highlight of the seminar is the competition of “silver” ideas among 3 secondary schools and presentation of winning ideas by Temasek Polytechnic and ITE student teams. Some of the GEM students from 2B01 and 2B02 turned up for this event.. We also wanted to lend our support to our classmates who participated in a business plan competition held in conjunction with this event and won the 3rd prize! *applause* :) The event started off with a scrumptious buffet lunch which includes fried rice and puddings... A photo with Miss Chin enjoying her lunch :) It was a satisfying lunch for the rest too! After lunch, we visited the many booths at the foyer which includes not just students from Temasek Polytechnic but also ITES and secondary schools.
